M ichael
R. Bernath, age 55, of Swanton, died
Sunday, October 29th, 2006 at Flower
Hospital, in the company of his
family, following a courageous
battle with lung cancer.
Mike was a devoted husband and a
wonderful father and grandfather. He
was employed by Howard’s Hardware
and Plumbing, Inc., for many years.
An avid Ohio State Buckeye’s fan,
Mike also enjoyed playing cards,
golfing and hunting, but was
happiest on NASCAR race day. He was
a member of both the Sylvania Moose
Lodge #1579 and the Catholic War
Vets, Assumption.
Mike married Mary Ann Inderrieden on
October 1, 1977 and they celebrated
29 years together. Also surviving
are his children: Jessica Bernath,
of Swanton, Ryan (Maggie) Bernath,
of Sylvania; two grandsons, whom he
adored: Tyson and Alex Bernath;
mother: Dorothy Menden; sisters:
Bonnie (Don) Ditch, Pat (Richard)
Brown, Karen (Wayne) Rogers, Angie
(Austin) Menden, and Debbie (Mark)
Malak; canine companion: Bailey
Jane; and many aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and close
friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his
father: Fred Bernath; step-father:
George Menden; and grandparents: Ray
(Thelma) Miller and Jessie (Viola)
Bernath.
The family will receive friends at
the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main
St., Sylvania on Wednesday, November
1st, 2006 from 3-9PM, where a Moose
Lodge service will be held at
7:00PM, followed by a scripture
service at 7:30PM. The Mass of
Christian Burial will be conducted
on Thursday, at 11AM, at Holy
Trinity Parish, Marygrove site, his
uncle, Rev. Frank Murd officiating.
Interment will follow in Marygrove
Cemetery.
Those wishing to give contributions
are asked to consider Hospice of
Northwest Ohio, Richfield Twp. Fire
& Rescue, or to the family for
Mike’s grandchildren’s education.
The family wishes to express
gratitude to the community and
beloved friends who supported Mike
so faithfully during his illness;
especially the staff at Flower
Hospital, Lake Park Skilled Nursing
Facility, Oak Valley Family
Physicians, Toledo Clinic, and
Hospice of NWO for demonstrating
such gentleness in caring for Mike.
Our hearts will forever by touched
by the compassion we experienced
during this difficult time.

and all the laughter in the place I
leave behind. All these good things
will go with me. They will make my
spirit glow. And that light will
shine forever in the next place that
