Wanda A. Trobly

 1916 to 2006

  Wanda A. Trombly, born August 9, 1916, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Swan Pointe Care Center, Maumee, Ohio. She was born on a century farm at 6750 Sterns Road, Ottawa Lake, Michigan, on which her father, Milton A. Trombly, was also born. Wanda’s mother, Blanche M. (Crots) Trombly and Wanda’s aunt, Alice (Crots) Trombly had married brothers, Milton A Trombly and Percy Trombly, respectively, all now being deceased, which made the children of each marriage double cousins with cousin, Beulah Newman now being deceased and cousin Bernice Iott surviving. Wanda graduated from the one room eight grade Columbia School, Whiteford Township, Monroe County, Michigan in June 1930 (Wanda’s mother had previously taught there,) from Burnham High School in 1934 and from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. Degree in Business Education. Between high school and college graduations she also attended Davis Business College. Wanda taught in public schools in Lulu, Deerfield and Morenci, Michigan, and then retired from Sylvania, Northview in 1979 after teaching in Clay High School in Oregon, Ohio, -- a public school teaching career spanning forty years. She taught Sunday School for fifteen years with Libby Hall and Lelah Dorcas, at the Sylvania First United Methodist Church where she was a member for her past 55 years. Wanda called for the prayer chain, was a trumpeteer, called for the Susannah Wesley Circle and the luncheon group at the Sylvania First United Methodist Church.

Wanda is survived by a niece, Pamela S. Dorcas, a nephew, Cedric F. (Tammy) Dorcas both of Sylvania, Ohio, a step great niece, Andrea Moore, a step great nephew, Samuel Moore, brother in law, Carl F. (Elizabeth) Dorcas, all of Sylvania, Ohio and a first cousin Bernice Iott of Ottawa Lake, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lelah F. Dorcas and a nephew, Harlan A. Dorcas.

Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH on Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral ceremony will be held Monday at 1:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 7000 Erie Street, Sylvania, Ohio with Dr. Michael A. Jenkins, officiating. The family suggests any memorials to be in the form of contributions to the church. Special thanks are extended to the personnel of Crestview, Kingston and Swan Pointe for the care so lovingly given to Wanda.
