Joan
(Dempsey) Devers,
79, of Sylvania Township, passed
away Monday December 25, 2006, at
the Kingston Care Center.
Joan
was born in St. Paul, MN, June 2,
1927, to parents Paul and Mary (Krismer)
Dempsey.
She was a member of the St. Joseph
Catholic Church, Sylvania, Ladies
Auxiliary and the Ladies Evening
Bridge Group. Joan was a member of
the Junior League, the Toledo Yacht
Club Auxiliary, and many
philanthropic organizations.
She is survived by her loving
husband of more than 54 years, Vin
Devers; sons Paul (Elise) of Ottawa
Hills, OH and their daughters
Brooke, Brandi, and Paige, and
Thomas (Barbara) Devers of Sylvania,
OH and their children Ryan, Shane,
Haley, and Ceara. Her brothers Paul
Dempsey of Mt. Prospect, IL and
Jerry Dempsey of New York City, NY
preceded Joan in death.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral
Home 5712 N. Main St. Street,
Sylvania, OH Thursday December 28th
from 4 – 9 PM, where Scripture
Services will begin at 7:30 PM. The
Funeral Mass will be conducted at
the St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Sylvania, Friday at 10 AM.
Entombment will follow at Toledo
Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the
staffs of the St. Vincent Mercy
Medical Center and the Kingston Care
Center for their loving care.
Those wishing to give memorials are
asked to consider the Multiple
Sclerosis Society.
How ironic, Joan battled Multiple
Sclerosis for more than 50 years,
but lost her life to brain cancer in
less than 2 months.
Her upbeat and positive attitude
were an inspiration to everyone she
