Mary
Lou A. (French) Yetis passed away
peacefully, January 18, 2007, with
her family beside her. Mary Lou's
journey through life began and ended
in the arms of family and in the
homes that love built. On a snowy
January day in 1937, at the home of
her Aunt Kate and Uncle Henry on
Hurd Street, Mary Lou was welcomed
into the warm arms of her loving
parents, Norman and Winifred (Kilcourse)
French and her big sister, Joan
(French) Barchick. She grew up in
East Toledo and attended St. Thomas
Aquinas
Elementary.
Central Catholic High School, class
of 1954, was her Alma Mater. After
graduation, Mary Lou pursued studies
as a Registered Nurse at the Toledo
Hospital School of Nursing,
graduating in 1958. In all her
nursing roles, she was well
respected by her colleagues for her
knowledge, skills and
thoughtfulness. Mary Lou found
strength in her family. Because she
received encouragement and support,
she gave the same in return.
Together, with her husband and soul
mate, Atilla M. Yetis, a wonderful
life was built. They shared
countless joyful memories. She
delighted in daughter and
son-in-law, Nil and Mark Gallagher,
they shared many family occasions.
They took wonderful care of Mary Lou
through the end of her life journey.
Her granddaughters'-Kelly, Erin, and
Megan Gallagher-presence and
companionship brought her joy, she
was very proud of them. She had a
special place in her heart for her
sister, Joan, whom she dearly loved
and appreciated. A sister is an
endless source of unconditional love
. . . forever. They shared many
memories. Travel, fine art, cuisine
and canines were a few of Mary Lou's
passions. Mary Lou traveled around
the world after becoming an RN. One
of her favorite countries was
Turkey, the homeland of her husband,
Atilla. She cultivated a penchant
for Turkish culture, cooking and
language. Mary Lou nourished her
appreciation of art through her
experiences as a Docent for the
Toledo Museum of Art. Sharing the
treasure of the Museum with others
brought her joy. One of her favorite
pastimes was cooking, and her dishes
were enjoyed by many. Her lemon tea
breads, soups and eggplant dishes
will be especially missed. The
loyalty and companionship of her
pets was a spring of comfort and
inspiration. Her faithful friends
and protectors included Nikki, Gigi,
Kerry, Kelly, Rusty, Lady, Red,
Lucky, Katie and Emily. Mary Lou is
preceded in death by her husband,
Atilla and parents. She is survived
by her loving daughter and
son-in-law; granddaughters; sister
and her children, Susan (Thomas)
Eisel, Douglas (Teresa) Barchick,
Patricia (Michael) Gory, and
Jacqueline Barchick (Cooper Suter)
and great-nieces and nephews,
including Natalie, Patricia and
James Eisel; Eric and Sean Barchick;
Kelsie Gory, and Anna and Winifred
Barchick-Suter. Friends may call at
