James S. Anderson

1945 to 2007

James S. Anderson, 62, of Sylvania Township, passed away suddenly, Thursday February 1, 2007, at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Since a very young age, Jim was always an extremely hard worker. He knew that nothing came easy in life and he was determined to make a good life for himself and his family. During the 60's, Jim became an owner/operator and hauled concrete pipe to make a living. In the late 70's, he opened his own welding shop, Anderson Welding, and after years of dedication and back-breaking labor the business became a success. The welding company, in reality, was just a stepping stone that helped Jim create two very successful family businesses, Central Trux & Parts and Toledo Pipe Transport that are still in operation today. His businesses meant the world to him. Jim knew more about the business world and semi trucks than anyone could imagine, only because he was ambitious enough to teach himself. His stress relieving therapy involved operating heavy equipment, which usually resulted in a bigger mess than what he started with. When he wasn’t working, which was a rare occasion, he enjoyed spending time with his family and all of the friends he met throughout the years. Jim loved to make people laugh and was quick to point out when something was done wrong. Everywhere he went, he was sure to make an impression on the people he encountered. He did everything he could to make life better for others and would go out of his way to help someone in need. Jim will be truly missed by many nieces, nephews, special cousins and treasured friends that will always remember his genuine sincerity and helpful nature.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Claudia Anderson; sons James M., Mark D. (Mary Pat), and Kevin J. (Christina Vallejo) Anderson; grandchildren Mackenzie, Megan, Justin, and Kristal Anderson; step-children Rachel and Kevin Keller; sisters Rosemary (Richard) Wylie, Joann (Mike) Litwin, Carolyn (Leo) Krispin, Helen (Gary) Stanton, and Irene Anderson; brothers Louis (Betty), John (Leola), Thomas “Tom” (Carroll), Donald, and Richard (Sharon) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Irene (Karpinski) Anderson;
