Maybern "Red" Edward Mathews

Maybern “Red”  Mathews, age 82, of Sylvania Township, passed away Friday, August 10, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a self employed accountant for over 50 years. Red was a US Navy veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion Post # 646, Holland, Ohio, and V.F.W. Post # 2898, Toledo Elks Lodge # 53, (where he held many positions over the years), Sylvania Moose lodge #1579 and F.O.Eagles, Toledo . He was an avid golfer and bowler, serving on the board for the State and the Ohio National Bowlers Association; he also was treasurer of the Toledo Bowling Association for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ruth (Joiner) Mathews.

Red is survived by his loving family, wife Rosalee Mathews, children Patricia Fuire, Sylvania, Douglas (Sue) Mathews, Toledo ; and Mark Mathews, Ellenton, FL. 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, also his sister Naomi Horton, Kingfisher, OK.

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, on Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 3-9:00 P.M. with the Elks Lodge services being conducted at 7:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Reeb funeral home. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.

The family suggests tributes in Red's name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
