Kathryn Genite

1919 to 2007

  The Rock of the Genite Family has passed.

Kathryn Genite of Sylvania Township, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on October 6, 2007.

She was born in London, Ohio, on April 11, 1919 to Charles and Mary (Elias) Genite. Kathryn moved with her family to the Toledo Area in 1948. She was employed with Jeep for more than 40 years until retiring in 1997.

Kathryn cherished the time spent traveling, literally around the world with her brother and sisters, she also enjoyed games of chance.

Kathryn was a faithful member of the St. Elias Orthodox Christian Church, Sylvania, the Lotus Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Toledo Club, and the Sylvania Country Club.

She is survived by her niece Kathie Stafford; nephew Kenneth (Nancy) Stafford; great-niece Sarah Louise (Ken) Parson; great-nephew Ryan Mellor; great great- nephew Logan Mellor; numerous cousins; and her administrative assistant Bonnie Lee. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Louise Genite Stafford, Josephine Genite, Virginia Genite, and Helen Abraham; and brother Charles Genite Jr.

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Tuesday October 9th from 5 – 9 PM and continuing Wednesday from 3 – 9 PM, where Trisagion Prayers will be offered at 8 PM. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the St. Elias Orthodox Christian Church, 4940 Harroun Road, Sylvania, (where Kathryn had been a member of the Ladies Society for many years), Thursday October 11th at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.

Those wishing to give memorials, in lieu of flowers, are asked to consider the Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
