Ray D.
MacEacheron, age 94, of
Sylvania, passed away Friday,
October 26, 2007, at Flower
Hospital. Ray was born to Ross and
Maude (Watson)
MacEacheron,
in Owosso, Michigan, on September
21st, 1913. A U.S. Army Veteran, Ray
served during WWII in Italy,
Germany, and the Battle of the
Bulge. He was a member of the
American Legion Post No. 335, the
Sylvania VFW Post No. 3717, the
Sylvania Elks Lodge No. 53, and the
Sylvania Moose Lodge No. 1579. In
2000, Ray was honored as the Grand
Marshall of the Sylvania Memorial
Day Parade. He was an avid golfer
and was proud of the Hole-in-One he
shot in 1991. Until his retirement
in 1984, Ray was employed as
Transportation Supervisor for
Sylvania Public Schools and served a
2-year term as State President of
the Ohio Association of Public
Schools. Ray is survived by his
wife, Dorothy (Heyman); daughters,
Irene (Don) Layman, of Sylvania and
Kathryn Schneider, of Frankfort, IL;
son, Ray MacEacheron, of Los
Angeles, CA; grandson, Dennis
(Kathy) Layman; granddaughter,
Shannon Layman and
great-grandchildren, Austin Layman
and Brittany Franklin. He was
preceded in death by his first wife,
Betty (Shaver) MacEacheron; parents;
brothers, Ross and Herb and sister,
Olive. Friends may call at the Reeb
Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St.,
Sylvania on Monday, October 29th,
2007, from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.,
where the funeral service will be
held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., where
Military Honors will follow. A
Military Burial will be held at Mt.
Rest Cemetery, St. John's, MI at
3:00 p.m. Contributions in Ray's
memory may be made to a charity of
