Richard Allen Black, age 78,
of Simpsonville, SC, passed
away on Thursday, December
13, 2007 at Greenville
Memorial Hospital. Richard
was
born April 4, 1929 in
Toledo, Ohio to the late
Bernard Frank and Edna
Elizabeth (Hughes) Black. He
lived in Toledo for 60 years
where he owned and operated
an automotive sales company
until his retirement in
1990.
Left to cherish his memory
are his loving wife of 57
years, Dolores “Bobbie” (Teopas)
Black and his five children:
Three daughters and their
husbands: Morton and Pam
Hale of Greenville, SC, Bill
and Kim Parker of Camden,
MI, Tommy and Paula Blackmon
of Greer, SC, as well as
daughter, Tracey Hill of
Simpsonville, SC and a son,
Scott Black of San Diego,
CA. Also surviving are his
13 beloved grandchildren:
Ashley Hale Coppins, Amber
Hale Antel, Brandon Hill,
Jordan Hill, Allyson Hale,
Sara Blackmon, Caroline
Blackmon, Billy Parker,
Katie Parker, Jackie Parker,
Richard Black, Tori Black,
Baron Black and 3 great
grandchildren: Haley Brooke
Coppins, Merrick Antel and
Maelynn Antel all of whom he
absolutely adored. He is
also survived by three
siblings: Colleen Pickering
of Toledo, OH, Bernard Black
of Sylvania, OH and Robert
Black of Atlanta, GA. along
with many nieces and
nephews, extended family and
friends.
Mr. Black served in the U.S.
Air Force during the Korean
War and was a former member
of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He was also an active member
of The American Legion,
Veteran’s of Foreign Wars,
and the Masonic Rubicon
Lodge. He loved the Lord and
was a member of Southside
Fellowship Church in
Greenville, SC, serving as a
deacon and member of the
church’s welcoming and
hospitality team. His
infectious laugh and
charismatic personality
touched everyone who had the
privilege of knowing him. He
will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at the
Reeb Funeral Home, 5712,
North Main Street in
Sylvania, OH (419-882-2033).
Visitation on Monday,
December 17, 2008 from
6pm-9pm and the funeral will
be on Tuesday, December 18,
2007 at 1pm. Interment will
follow at Toledo Memorial
Park. Donations can be made
