FRED EARL FLEITZ
Fred Earl Fleitz, 67, of Toledo, OH
passed away peacefully Saturday,
February 23, 2008, at his home
surrounded by his loving family.
Born
to Jim and Evelyn Fleitz in Toledo,
OH on February 16, 1941 Fred
attended grade school at Hall of
Divine Child in Monroe, MI and
Ladyfield School in Toledo. He
graduated from Central Catholic High
School in 1959 and attended the
University of Toledo. He married
Christine Kwiatkowski in 1967. Fred
was a Skilled Finish Carpenter and
worked for Fleitz Modern
Construction for over 20 years
before embarking on his own. He
retired in 2000.
Fred was a devoted husband, father
and grandfather who loved and
touched many lives. Fred was a
member of Christ The Kind Catholic
Church since he was a child and was
one of the first alter boys. For the
past 25 years he has been an usher.
Other organizations he belonged to
include the Carpenters Union,
Knights of Columbus and Family Motor
Coach Association. He was also an
avid fan of the Detroit Lions and
was a long term season ticket
holder. Fred also had a passion for
tending to and caring for his
raspberry bushes.
This past January Fred and Christine
went on his dream vacation to Mexico
where they celebrated their 40 years
of marriage. Fred really took to the
Mexican culture, landscape and
heritage. He loved to listen to the
Mexican music as he enjoyed his
margarita. Before his untimely
death, Fred was currently busy
planning a move to Denver, CO for
his retirement years.
Left to cherish Fred's memory is his
loving wife Christine; daughter, Dr.
Julie (Christopher) Ley of Denver,
CO; sons, Dr. Fred (Kelly) Fleitz of
Franklin Park, NJ; Jeff (Heather)
Fleitz, Chicago, IL; and Dr. Michael
(fiancee' Rachael Odell) Fleitz, New
Albany, OH; granchildren Ian and
Aiden Ley; Katerina and Nash Fleitz;
sisters, Jean (Henry) Nowakowski;
Joan (Ivan) Troconis; and Evie (Ken)
Day; brothers Robert (Joan) Fleitz;
Sam (Rosie) Fleitz; and Tom (Carmen)
Fleitz; brother-in-law, James St.
Julien. He will be sadly missed by
many nieces and nephews, especially
his special nephew "Kyle". Fred was
preceded in death by his parents and
sister, Rosemary St. Julian.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral
Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania,
OH, Wednesday, February 27th from 2
to 9 pm., where a prayer service
will be held at 7p.m. Services will
begin in the funeral home on
Thursday morning at 10 a.m. and will
proceed to Christ the King Catholic
Church. Monroe/Harvest, Toledo, for
a Mass of Christian burial at 11
a.m.
