Margaret Conrad

1924 to 2008

MARGARET "MARGIE" MARY CONRAD

Margaret M. (Margie) (nee: Perry) Conrad, age 83, beloved wife of Robert Conrad, left this life and arrived home Sunday, June 8th, 2008. Born in Toledo July 26th, 1924 to Anita and Emery Perry, she attended St. Louis Catholic Grade School and graduated from Woodward High School.

During WWII, she took up the cause at home as one of many Rosie the Riveters, working at Willys Overland. In 1944 she joined Ohio Bell where she worked as a telephone operator.

She met the love of her life at the Michigan Tavern where they danced many a dance, not only there, but also at the Bombshelter. You could say they glided into each others arms, across the dance floor and into a new life together. They were remarkable dancers, as many will attest to, and those in themselves are treasured memories.

In 1948 she married Bob Conrad, her husband of 60 years, retiring from Ohio Bell at that time. This happy marriage was blessed with two children, at which point Margie devoted her life to her family, raising her children. In 1962, she reentered the workforce and was employed at Haughton Elevator in Toledo. During that time, she was one of the very first Key Punch Operators at the dawn of the computer generation in American business. She eventually became their Directing Key Punch Operator, retiring in 1975.

We are all (family and friends alike) thankful to have been touched in some way by this beautiful, gentle, kind-hearted, loving woman.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents: Emery and Anita (Couture) Perry, brother: Irv Perry: sisters: Freda Justus, Edna Fitzgerald, Ruth Kohn, Mildred Perry; and son-in-law: Tony Ross. Left to treasure her memory are her husband: Bob Conrad; son: William Conrad, of San Francisco, CA; daughter: Cathy Ross; brother: Jack (Kathy) Miller; sisters: Dorothy (Gene) Wilcox and Alice (Louis) Hochradel; many nieces and nephews; also Pat Connelly, friend by chance, family by choice-our angel on this earth.

Family and friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, on Thursday, June 12th, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 8:00PM, where a scripture service will be held at 7:30PM. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd., Toledo, on Friday at 11:00 AM with prayers beginning at the funeral home at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills

Memorial Park.

"With love and respect we say not goodbye, but until we meet again."

With grateful hearts and thanks for their outstanding love, support, and care, we suggest that any donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
